As a Senior Accounting Specialist
You will be responsible for the maintenance and review of financial and statistical records, and provide lead direction to clerical accounting personnel. Using independent judgment and discretion when conferring with staff, management, and representatives of other departments and agencies, you will exercise detailed subject matter knowledge of bookkeeping activities and specialize in maintaining complex financial records and transactions. As a lead, you may also train employees, assist in the evaluation of their performance, and may participate in the new hire selection process. Ideal candidates will possess:
- Prior bookkeeping and accounts payable and receivable experience
- The ability to accurately and timely prepare and maintain financial transactions in a timely fashion
- Attention to detail and a capacity to focus on correctly completing tasks and projects in a fast-paced work environment, with frequent interruptions
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to pleasantly and effectively interact with employees, managers, and other agency personnel
- Knowledge of and experience using Access, Excel, Outlook, Word, and financial software
