HELP DESK TECHNICIAN

$45,935.04 - $55,695.96 Annually
Under general supervision, performs basic computer and telephone related duties such as analyzes, troubleshoots, and resolves technical operational problems, installation, and maintenance of hardware, peripheral equipment and software; provides helpdesk support for the District's computer, network, telephone, access control, security/firesystem and mobile devices; assists in the review and/or preparation of user's procedures and documentation; provides informal and formal training to users on systems implementation and operations; performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge of:
- Capabilities, limitations, characteristics, and uses of computer information systems and related hardware.
- Capabilities, limitations, characteristics, and uses of various software applications.
- Principles, capabilities, and operations of computer systems.
- Principles of file and data management systems.
- Installs, maintains, and repairs computers, telephones, mobile devices, and peripheral equipment hardware.
Education and Experience
An Associate degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Science, Management Information Systems, or closely related field and two (2) years full time paid experience providing helpdesk support, installation and/or maintenance services on computer and telephone products and/or systems. OR:
Completion of a certificate program in Computer Science and two (2) years full time paid experience equivalent to the requirements listed in this job description. OR:
Three (3) years full time paid experience providing helpdesk support, installation and/or maintenance services on computer and telephone products and/or systems, helpdesk support, and completion of 30 semester units in Computer Science, Information Science, Management Information Systems, or closely related field. OR:
Three (3) years full time paid employment with the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District or its predecessor agencies, and completion of 30 semester units in Computer Science, Information Science, Management Information Systems, or closely related field.
