DEFINITION
To perform a range of technical, analytical, operational support, programming, coordination, and training services with a Web targeted competency; to create sites/pages and reports by manual and automated means; to create and maintain specialized Websites; to play an active role in the Information Systems (IS) Division, which is responsible for the planning, implementation, and support of information technology projects throughout the City of Davis.
DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS
Website Analyst and Application Trainer is distinguished from other System Analyst classifications within the Information Technology division due to possessing expertise in and focusing primarily upon websites in support of City operations.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receives direction from the Information Technology Administrator or other designated supervisory or management personnel.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS - Essential functions may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Produces websites which satisfy departmental user requirements.
Develops and maintains website procedure documentation.
Troubleshoots and performs routine maintenance on web servers and related peripherals.
Meets with users to define data needs, project requirements, project output, and/or develop applications.
Analyze website needs of departments and implements programs, databases, and related products for departments and outside agencies.
Coordinates interdepartmental data sharing and system integration; participates in teaching end users and provides support and expertise for web applications.
Keeps abreast of technology advancements and disseminates the information to IS and user departments.
Establishes operational controls to assure accuracy of data processed.
Evaluates operations and makes recommendations about the website program direction and procedure modifications; develops or assists in developing policies and procedures for city websites.
Participates in the building of the IS organization which may include development of IS goals, objectives and policies; budget administration; participates in software/hardware acquisition decisions.
Uses PC based tools such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access to develop data capture and analytical models.
Builds and maintains positive working relationships with co-workers, other city employees, and the public using principles of good customer service.
Maintains confidentiality of records and information concerning other city employees.
Assists in the installation of terminals, personal computers, and related hardware, including the moving of equipment and lifting of loads weighing up to 50 pounds.
Ensures effective communication occurs when interacting with co-workers, other city staff, and those contacted in the course of work.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
Three years increasingly responsible experience operating, maintaining, and implementing websites.
Training:
Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in web design, computer science, information systems, or a closely related field.
License or Certificate
Must possess and maintain a valid California C driver's license and a satisfactory driving record.
Required to successfully pass background check process.
