The Roseville Public Cemetery District is accepting applications for the District Secretary position. The preferred candidate has the equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade and any combination of education, experience and training that provides the equivalent knowledge and abilities. Knowledge of a wide variety of general clerical and routine secretarial duties is desirable. Experience in the cemetery industry is highly desirable. The District Secretary must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to be customer focused when dealing with families.
District Overview: The Roseville Public Cemetery District operates two cemeteries in Roseville and conducts approximately 190 burials annually.

SECRETARY I
DEFINITION: Under the District Superintendent's direction, performs secretarial, accounting and general office work in accordance with established policies; and performs related work as required.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES:
Assists the public with a variety of services, in a helpful and professional manner
Makes arrangements for funeral services with public and funeral directors
Maintains burial records, books, maps, and files
Types letters, memorandums, reports, and other materials, applying a knowledge of District operation and regulations
Maintains general office files
Sells graves, services, and products
Handles petty cash transactions
Participates in maintaining a variety of financial records and reports
Maintains adequate office supplies
Keeps work area neat and clean
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Principles and practices of customer service
Secretarial practices and procedures
Methods, practices and terminology used in bookkeeping
District operation and established policies
English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation
The use of computers, knowing various types of software; Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Internet Explorer
ABILITY TO:
Operate a variety of office equipment
Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
Prioritize and coordinate tasks to meet deadlines
Establish and maintain effective working relationships
QUALIFICATIONS: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade and any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities
