Broad Scope and Function |
This position reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs in support of overall business strategies at University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI). The position troubleshoots, maintains, and ensures the proper repair of software used in the UEI data center. The position trains and assists users with software and workstation equipment usage and develops recommendations for enhancing system performance. |
Reporting Relationship |
The position reports directly to and receives general direction from the Director, Information Technology. |
Conditions of Employment |
This is a full-time, non-exempt (eligible for overtime pay), benefited position that is covered under the California Public Employees’ Retirement System. Continued employment in this position is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises and the employee, and either University Enterprises or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. |

Minimum Qualifications |
1. Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, MIS or related area or equivalent experience. 2. Demonstrated experience with the analysis and support of user computing needs. 3. Demonstrated experience working on multi-department project teams. 4. Demonstrated strong understanding of financial, accounting, human resources, and payroll/timekeeping systems. 5. Demonstrated understanding of business functions and processes. 6. Demonstrated ability to work with all levels of staff and management. 7. Demonstrated familiarity with relational databases and client-server concepts. Ability to query databases with tools such as SQL or MS Visual Basic and ability to write financial reports using vendor software and external reporting methods. 8. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 9. Demonstrated ability to serve as information systems consultant on the development and adaptation of computer applications; analyze equipment and software packages to make cost effective acquisition recommendations; use and ensure proper and efficient utilization of data processing equipment and software; train users in the use of equipment and software; and talk to and interview others to obtain or exchange information. 10. Must pass a background check, which may include fingerprinting. Must continue to meet the established standards. |
Preferred Qualifications |
1. Ability to lead project teams. 2. Familiarity with shell script programming. 3. Demonstrated experience with Superion ONE Solution (formerly SunGard/Bi-Tech) software or other fund-based accounting software. 4. Demonstrated experience with workflow concepts using a software-based workflow engine. 5. Demonstrated experience with report writing tools such as Superion CDD or Cognos. |
Physical Requirements |
Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; good verbal communication; use of office equipment including computers, telephones, scanners, printers, copiers, and fax machines. |

01. Works with the Information Technology Application Systems Analyst II to review, analyze and evaluate UEI’s business systems, processes, and user needs, crossing departmental boundaries where required. Recommends modification to existing systems or formulates new systems and processes to support UEI’s overall business strategies and company policies. Writes descriptions of user needs, program functions and steps required to develop or modify computer programs. |

02. Reviews, analyzes, and recommends modifications to programming systems, including testing, debugging, and installing to support application systems. Consults with users to identify current operating procedures and to clarify program objectives. Writes documentation and procedures to coincide with new system updates. Will work with other Analysts to write manuals and other documentation to describe installation and operating procedures. |

03. Actively participates on project teams to develop integrated project plans, implementation schedules, and set and/or clarify project and departmental goals and objectives. Tracks, monitors, and communicates project progress with the project team and management. |

05. Assists in system administration duties as needed to ensure proper operation of computer systems. This includes but is not limited to scheduling jobs, system backups, system and data security, system startup/shutdown, writing Microsoft and other scripts, monitoring system performance, application, and system user account management and software installation. |

08. Maintains awareness of current and new technology and products that may benefit UEI; analyzes and determines new equipment and software needs; researches and recommends systems, equipment, and software modifications; and installs/troubleshoots new equipment and software. |
