Animal Care Technician
THE POSITION: The County of Yuba is currently recruiting for two full-time Animal Care Technicians in the Yuba County Sheriff’s Department. Under general supervision, Animal Care Technicians assist in the daily maintenance, feeding and care of animals housed in the county’s animal care facility including those subject to quarantine, injured or ill. Animal Care Technicians assist with euthanasia and disposal of animals in a humane and prescribed method, in accordance with established policies and California laws, provide information to the public regarding lost or stray animals, assist with licensing, pet adoptions, and community volunteer programs, clean and disinfect cages and other areas of the shelter as necessary, and perform related work as assigned.
The ideal candidate must have a willingness to control and handle aggressive, injured and dead animals in a variety of situations. This classification may work extended off-hours shifts or be called back in emergency situations. The incumbent must have a teamwork mentality but possess the ability to work independently when assigned
