ABOUT US:
WCIC/Playmate Head Start Programs are federally funded low-income programs for children ages 3-5.
The purpose of WCIC/Playmate Head Start Programs are to provide a comprehensive framework that will increase social competency and school readiness by:
1. Blending multi-cultural and anti-biased educational curriculum;
2. Fostering development of the whole child;
3. Integrating self-identity, cognitive, language, physical, creative, emotional, and social development; and
4. Reflecting and honoring the cultures of children, families, and communities.
WCIC/Playmate Head Start Programs currently serve 120 Head Start children ages 3-5 in Sacramento County. The majority of the children are from the Oak Park community. The languages spoken are: English, Spanish, Hmong, Mien, Lao, Thai, Chinese, and American Sign Language.
