The Department of Pediatrics is seeking a dynamic HR Professional to fill our HR/Operations Manager position. The Department of Pediatrics is one of the largest in the School of Medicine and has 14 divisions and sections divided by subspecialty totaling 120 physicians and 100 staff. As a member of the department’s senior management team, this position is responsible for the leadership and management of all Human Resource operations, oversight of the training and education programs and overall departmental leadership and collaboration with the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO). This position will also oversee the academic personnel process and will provide recommendations and decisions as well as advice, support and counsel for the Department’s staff related to personnel matters. Additionally, position serves as the Operations Manager and is responsible for space allocation and defining/implementing short and long range goals for Pediatrics in collaboration with CAO and Department Chair.
Candidates should have solid experience in human resources and supervisory experience. Experience in academics preferred.
Required Qualifications:

Experience in Human Resources.

Experience in the principles and practices of business management to effectively manage and oversee a complex administrative operation.

Supervisory experience and/or leadership skills to effectively recruit, train, evaluate, motivate, resolve problems/conflicts, conduct performance management, and build effective service-oriented, team environment.

Experience and skills to analyze complex information or problems in an objective manner and derive logical conclusions to provide a sound basis for establishing priorities, selecting appropriate courses of action for pursuit or recommendations to others, and to resolve conflicts.

Strategic planning/analytical skills, both quantitative & qualitative, for the purposes of forecasting & developing objectives.

Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills to effectively interact with a wide variety of individuals,

Experience interpreting and applying University policy, collective bargaining agreements, and state and federal laws related to but not limited to: student, staff, and academic positions in areas of employment, affirmative action, benefits, worker’s compensation, merit and promotion, salary administration, corrective action, conflict management, payroll, and disability management.

Knowledge of FMLA, CFRA, FEHA, ADA, worker’s compensation, pregnancy leave and other types of leaves of absence.

Experience and skills to utilize computerized financial information and payroll/personnel systems. Skills to use computer hardware and software (i.e., Microsoft Office, Email, internet, etc.). Proficient at formulating spreadsheets, preparing charts, organizing and presenting data.
