Broad Scope and Function |
This position will provide direct support for the Director of Sacramento State’s Center for College & Career Readiness (CCR) and the Early Assessment Program (EAP). This will consist of coordinating services for matriculating students via the Transition to Success Program, particularly during their first year on campus. This position will assist the BSP Project Manager in devising a plan for coordination between the CSUS and CA Community College SSSP (Student Success and Support Program) departmental staff to advise, mentor and direct students based on their respective CAASPP (California Assessment of Student |
Reporting Relationship |
The position reports directly to the Director of the Center for College & Career Readiness. Works closely with the Research & Technology Coordinator and other Student Initiative Coordinators. |
Conditions of Employment |
This is a full-time, temporary up to April 30, 2021 (may be extended) non-exempt (eligible for overtime pay), benefited position with a defined contribution retirement plan through TIAA. (The position is not covered under the California Public Employees’ Retirement System). Continued employment in this position is dependent upon funding and the mutual consent of University Enterprises and the employee, and either University Enterprises or the employee, can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. Program continuation is contingent upon funding. |

Minimum Qualifications |
1. Bachelors Degree in one of the Behavioral or Social Sciences, Education or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience. 2. Demonstrated experience in advising, education, or a related student services field and working with students in academic and/or career advisement. 3. Demonstrated experience with the basic principles of early college readiness signals, remediation, or high school senior year transition courses. 4. Ability to create and conduct workshops on the Early Assessment Program, CAASPP test results, and the tenets of the Basic Skills Initiative. 5. Demonstrated ability to plan and lead group activities and to participate in and contribute to group meetings, conferences, and interviews. 6. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff, and faculty from the K-12, Community Colleges, and CSU communities. 7. Demonstrated experience using computer applications including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases such as the programs in the Microsoft Office Suite. 8. Demonstrated skill working independently with little direction and coordinating many different tasks, determining the importance of each, re-prioritizing if necessary, setting deadlines, and completing projects accordingly. 9. Demonstrated skill in working with individuals, groups, and diverse populations. 10. Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills with the ability to clearly express ideas and recommendations orally and in writing. 11. Must be legally eligible to drive in California and be acceptable for vehicle insurance coverage under the University Enterprises insurance plan. Must continue to meet the established driving standards. Must possess own transportation for use in traveling. 12. Must be fingerprinted and pass a background check. Must continue to meet the established standards. |
Preferred Qualifications |
1. Demonstrated experience conducting presentations and speaking in front of groups. 2. Knowledge of the K-12 and community college systems and academic and campus culture. 3. Experience organizing group activities specific to middle and high school students. 4. Experience coordinating academic summer boot camps. 5. Knowledge of database systems, web applications, and social media. |
Physical Requirements |
Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computers, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, scanners, and fax machines. |

06. Under the direction of the Director, provides information on professional learning opportunities (Expository Reading and Writing Course (ERWC) and the ESM) to area high schools and community colleges to align curricular expectations as well as pedagogy. |

07. Facilitates the launch of the pilot Junior Year Boot Camp for rising high school juniors with feeder high school districts and its integration with the TSP. |

08. Under the direction of the Director, meets with and addresses a variety of groups, including, but not limited to: school/college administrators, board members, officials of public and private agencies and corporations, to gather and disseminate information relative to a variety of Center initiatives, external programs, partnerships, and long-term project results. |
