Broad Scope and Function |
This position is open until filled with a priority review date of March 1, 2019. This position is responsible for connecting and contacting eligible CAMP students. The position is responsible for following-up, completing, reviewing, and submitting CAMP applications to the Director, CAMP. The position represents CAMP in outreach activities and student events, and maintaining the case management for outreach. The position advises incoming migrant students on the admissions and enrollment process including important dates and deadlines, financial aid, and other relevant topics. Due to the nature of the job responsibilities, the person in this position will have a legal duty to report child abuse and neglect and is considered by law to be a “mandated reporter.” |
Reporting Relationship |
This position reports directly to and receives general supervision from the Director, CAMP. The position supervises part-time student assistants. |
Conditions of Employment |
This position is a full-time, non-exempt (eligible for overtime pay), benefited position, with a defined contribution retirement plan through TIAA. (The position is not covered under the California Public Employees’ Retirement System.) Continued employment in this position is dependent upon funding and the mutual consent of University Enterprises and the employee, and either University Enterprises or the employee, can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. Program continuation is contingent upon funding. |

Minimum Qualifications |
1. Bachelor’s Degree in one of the Behavioral or Social Sciences, Education or related field or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience. 2. Demonstrated experience in advising, education or related student services field and working with underrepresented students in academic and/or career advisement. 3. Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills in both English and Spanish. 4. Demonstrated knowledge of the unique cultural traits found in migrant families. 5. Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with coworkers, students, parents, faculty, and staff. 6. Demonstrated skill to work independently. 7. Demonstrated familiarity with word processing and spreadsheet computer applications, such as the programs in the Microsoft Office Suite. 8. Must be legally eligible to drive in California, complete and pass an online training course, maintain a good driving record, and be acceptable for vehicle insurance coverage under the University Enterprises insurance plan. Must continue to meet the established driving standards, driving record will be monitored with the California Department of Motor Vehicles to ensure compliance. Must have reliable transportation. 9. Must be fingerprinted and pass a background check. Must continue to meet the established standards. |
Preferred Qualifications |
1. Demonstrated communication skills in Vietnamese or Punjabi. |
Physical Requirements |
Sit for extended periods; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computers, telephones, calculators, copiers, printers, scanners, and fax machines. Frequent travel throughout Northern California.. |

01. Travels throughout Northern California and makes presentations to students, school personnel, community organizations, parent advisory committees, and community agencies regarding CAMP, higher education opportunities, and financial aid. Verifies student program eligibility. |

02. Coordinates identification and follow-up of incoming CAMP students’ admission, financial aid, Educational Opportunity Program (EOP)/Summer Bridge application, additional support programs, Orientation, and housing process. |

04. Coordinates and implements special activities for students and their families. This includes, but is not limited to recruitment activities, CAMP Orientation, the CAMP Student/Parent Program, the annual student/staff retreat, and other activities in alignment with CAMP objectives. |

05. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with campus supportive services offices, academic departments, community agencies, secondary school personnel, and migrant education personnel. |
