Broad Scope and Function |
Staff Research Engineers provide engineering support and advice services for applied research projects conducted by the Office of Water Programs on environmental engineering problems. This position includes civil, environmental, and water resources engineering specialties. Research Engineers may teach one course per semester for the CSUS Department of Civil Engineering. The series includes positions involved in planning and construction of experimental facilities; planning, administering, and conducting research activities; and disseminating research results. Emphasis is on securing, administering, and managing research in the areas of environmental and water resources engineering. This position assists the Director of the Office of Water Programs or their designee in preparation of proposals, marketing, planning, organizing, supervising, and/or performing the work of a professional engineering staff; represents OWP at meetings and conferences involving campus, university, private, state, and federal entities in matters related to the subject research; and manages projects and assures the quality of the products of the group. |

This position reports directly and receives general direction from the Engineering Manager of the Office of Water Programs or their designee. |

WE ARE CURRENTLY RECRUITING FOR 2 POSITIONS: STAFF RESEARCH ENGINEER I & II OPEN UNTIL FILLED WITH A PRIORITY REVIEW DEADLINE OF: 3/9/2018 This is a full-time, exempt from overtime, benefited position, covered under the California Public Employees’ Retirement System. Continued employment in this position is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) and the employee, and either University Enterprises or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. |

Minimum Qualifications |
1. Master’s degree in Civil/Environmental Engineering or related discipline. 2. Excellent oral and written communication skills. 3. Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze environmental laws and regulations including Federal Register and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). 4. Demonstrated knowledge of monitoring and analysis of natural and engineered environmental systems. 5. Demonstrated knowledge of the characteristics and environmental impacts of point and non-point source pollution. 6. Demonstrated ability to manage environmental applied research programs. 7. Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary research group. 8. Demonstrated ability to review and edit technical project reports and documents. 9. Demonstrated ability to present information and results in conferences and meetings. 10. Demonstrated knowledge of water resources modelling. 11. Must be legally eligible to drive in California and be acceptable for vehicle insurance coverage under the University Enterprises insurance plan. Must continue to meet the established driving standards. |
Preferred Qualifications |
1. Demonstrated experience in stormwater monitoring and analysis. |
Physical Requirements |
Sit for extended periods of time; frequently stand and walk; manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination; corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computers, telephones, calculators, copy machines, fax machines, scanners, and printers. Site visits require ability to walk up and stand on steep earthen and vegetated slopes. |
