Broad Scope and Function |
This position is responsible for day-to-day supervision of the graphic design and communications staff of the Marketing Services department and is responsible for the online/digital marketing assets for University Enterprises Inc.’s (UEI) websites, digital signage, intranet, and specialized web-based programs. Responsibilities include; implementation of digital marketing plans, project and content management, computer programming (when appropriate) and graphic/electronic design. Position acts as a resource to provide technical and design/production for designers and other users; develops visual presentation criteria; and provides quality assurance. Acts on behalf of the Director in the Director’s absence. |
Reporting Relationship |
The position reports directly to and receives general direction from the Director, Marketing Services. Reporting directly to the position are the Graphic Designers and Communications Specialist. |
Conditions of Employment |
This is a full-time, exempt from overtime, benefited position, covered under the California Public Employees’ Retirement System. Continued employment in this position is dependent upon the mutual consent of University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) and the employee, and either University Enterprises or the employee can, at any time, terminate the employment relationship at will, with or without cause. |

Minimum Qualifications |
1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Marketing, Communication Studies, Business, Graphic Design, or related field or equivalent experience. 2. Demonstrated experience using project planning and management concepts and ability to apply these concepts to small- and large-scale projects. Demonstrated multi-tasking skills. 3. Demonstrated experience using HTML and web-based content management systems. 4. Demonstrated graphic design skills including illustration, typography, photography, and color theory. Demonstrated ability to use WordPress, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Acrobat, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel to accomplish web projects. Proficient in both PC and Mac computers. 5. Demonstrated experience hiring, supervising, training, coaching, disciplining, and evaluating staff. 6. Demonstrated experience promoting and coordinating web site activities. Demonstrated ability to understand and address the needs of University markets and customer segments. 7. Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment and to work with a variety of UEI departments and University clients. 8. Demonstrated exceptional oral and written communication skills including accurate English usage and exceptional proofreading and editing skills. Ability to work with accuracy and with attention to detail. 9. Demonstrated ability to understand and work within the University and UEI mission and goals. 10. Demonstrated working knowledge of current www and graphic design and formatting tools and applications. 11. Must be detail oriented and have good organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to coordinate and complete multiple overlapping projects ensuring deadlines and budget constraints are adhered to. 12. Demonstrated ability to assist with budget development and monitoring. Demonstrated knowledge of fiscal control principles. 13. Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive materials and to use discretion in handling and maintaining confidential information. 14. Must pass a background check, which may include fingerprinting. Must continue to meet the established standards. |

Physical Requirements |
Sit for extended periods: manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; corrected hearing and full field of vision including colors, shades, and depth perception; verbal communication; use of office equipment including computers, telephones, calculators, copiers, and printers, scanners, and fax machines. |

Work is performed in an office environment and production environment with a variety of printing equipment; some exposure to grease, oils, chemicals, and adhesives; continuous contact with staff, the campus community, and the public. |
Project Description |
University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI), a Sacramento State non-profit auxiliary organization, meets the evolving needs of the University community by providing programs and services that support and strengthen the Sacramento State experience. The UEI Marketing Services team supports UEI departments, programs and services by developing high-quality, creative, print, and electronic communications from initial concept through final product. We approach marketing in an integrated, strategic way, ensuring communications reach the designated target audience to meet business goals and objectives. Our services include fliers and brochures, letterhead, and business cards, digital signage, social media, website development, advertising, brand identity development (product naming, logo design), and collegiate licensing. |

01. Initiates, develops, and manages UEI’s presence on the internet, including concept, organization, design, accuracy, and updates to the content to present a positive high-quality image. Applies marketing skills to enhance the online experience for the UEI public audience. Acts as liaison between Digital Marketing and Information Technology. |

04. Assists the Director by monitoring the Marketing budget, including projection and tracking of revenue and expenses. Recommends and implements operational changes based on financial performance, supervisor approval, and business environment. Analyzes, recommends, and in absence of Director, authorizes purchases for Marketing and Digital Marketing. |

05. Supervises, hires, trains, develops, coaches, and evaluates assigned staff ensuring compliance with UEI’s personnel policies and procedures and Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity guidelines.
