Responsibilities
The Respiratory Care Supervisor II (RCS II) is the frontline representation for the Respiratory Care Management Team. The RCS II assures, by observation and audit, that department clinical, regulatory, and financial practices meet policy, procedure and operational needs of UCDMC. The RCS II performs two primary functions: 1) direct patient care and 2) shift operations management. The RCS II spends approximately 70% of their time in direct patient care and 30% of their time in daily shift operations management. Clinicians provide a full range of cardiopulmonary diagnostic and therapeutic services for patients of all age groups. Obtains, reviews, and interprets data and assesses the need for and response to respiratory care interventions in consultation and conjunction with medical, nursing ad other disciplines to optimize patient care planning and delivery. Responds to cardiopulmonary emergencies, provides airway maintenance, manual and mechanical ventilator support using a variety of devices and techniques and administers oxygen and other therapeutic gases, humidity therapy, inhaled aerosol medications, bronchial hygiene, lung expansion therapies and instructs patient's family and continuing care providers in the administration of respiratory procedures and the proper use of respiratory therapy equipment and supplies.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
• At least 3 years of recent Respiratory Care Practitioner experience in an Acute Care Hospital.
• Current and valid California Respiratory Care Practitioner License.
• Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT).
• Complete Pediatric and Neonatal competencies as required for operational need.
• Current BLS certification.
• PALS certification.
• Bachelors degree or above.
PREFERRED
• Performance Improvement experience.
• Team Lead experience.
• Experience planning and conducting in-service education and training.
