Regional Video/Audio Lead
Salary: $65-70k / Relocation assistance
The Regional Video/Audio Lead will work closely with editors, video producers and visual journalists across McClatchy newsrooms as part of a cohesive network. Their primary responsibility is leading a team of regional video producers in growing our audience while discovering tactics for converting that audience from occasional users into readers who will subscribe and stay. They will also coordinate with visual journalists, reporters and editors, to ensure that video and audio is a key part of McClatchy’s daily news profile.
Responsibilities:

Manage a team of regional video producers, ensuring that daily video/audio goals and needs are met across the region

Communicate regularly with newsroom editors and leaders on video/audio analytics, priorities and projects

Use data and audience understanding to guide newsrooms on short-term and long-term video/audio strategy that grows our audience and retains our subscriber base.

Compile monthly and quarterly analytics reports to share video/audio progress with newsrooms

Conduct training efforts around video storytelling and production across newsrooms

Assign stories and help lead video/audio coverage of regional news events, including live streams, production and editing oversight as needed

Guide the style and tone for video and audio produced across McClatchy newsrooms, using guidance developed by the McClatchy video/audio team

Work with partners throughout the company to promote stories internally and externally

On-call coordination of breaking news on nights/weekends
Requirements:
Education: College degree required.

Minimum of 3 years digital editorial journalism experience.

Ability to masterfully edit video.

Extensive background in video and online media.

Experience with social and other off-site platforms

Audio production/editing experience a plus.

Product development and design thinking experience a plus.

Spanish language skills preferred.

Management experience preferred.
Skills Needed:
Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, and team player skills required. Leadership, strategic thinking experience and the ability to work across a broad-section of colleagues essential. Visual sensibility and experience contributing to interactive and multimedia work, with creative concepts and implementation. Reliable news judgment, advanced communication and coaching skills needed. A vision of future audience trends and digital media important.

This position will report to the Sr. Editor - Video and will be based at the Sacramento Bee. Moderate travel will be required.
