Set up and operate a Heidleberg 2299 inserting machine.  This entails setting up an individual hopper for each preprint that is scheduled to run in the paper for a specific day.  The set up should be done in such a way to effectively run all preprinted materials. In addition, set up of the stacker, undercrafter, strapper, turntable, and Kodak printer must be done prior to each run.  

The machine operator must monitor numerous package changes throughout the production run and ensure package quality and integrity.

When necessary, stops machine and makes every attempt to make adjustments or repairs to hopper set ups in an effort to produce a quality package in the most effective time frame.  If unable to do so he/she then reports malfunction to supervisor.

Routinely, throughout the run, inspects packages to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications.

When necessary, must be able to load product into the hoppers.

Replenishes packaging supplies and places supplies in hopper or other feeding devices.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. The individual needs to be able to identify problems as they arise and create a fast and viable solution or report to supervisor.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Must be certified to operate a walkie and riding palletjack.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
One year certificate from college or technical school; related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
