Seneca Sustainable Energy in Eugene, OR, is in need of a reliable person capable of operating a high-pressure wood fired boiler and an extraction steam turbine generator including the auxiliary equipment associated with a co-generation plant. This person will be responsible for his/her shift on 12-hour rotating shift schedule Wednesday through Saturday. This individual must be a self-motivated person and be able to give and follow instruction. This position frequently requires climbing of ladders, working with heights and walking on catwalks up to 80 feet high. Work is performed in a loud, inside and outside environment and includes regularly working near moving mechanical parts, pressurized vessels, pumps, including water treatment chemicals. Essential Functions: -Write and maintain equipment logs, operational logs and other reports via handwritten notes and computer logs, as required. -Read, understand and respond to written instructions and logbook notations. -Provide on-the-job training and coaching to the Assistant Shift Operator. -Comply with all safety, health and environmental regulations and procedures. -Operate heavy equipment, such as forklift, bobcat, boomtruck and manlift. -Hear and respond to audio alarms and variations of sound. -Work in a variety of positions including: standing, sitting, bending, twisting, kneeling and squatting. -Use stairs (up to 85' high) and ladders (up to 27' high) to access the plant and equipment throughout the shift. -Ability to carry up to 50 pounds for 100 feet to take tools and parts to areas needing service -Work at varying heights with use of fall protection required for unprotected heights over six feet. -Work 12-hour shifts that rotate between day shift and graveyard on a weekly basis (4 on, 3 off and 3 on, 4 off). -Work in confined spaces using a respirator. Minimum Requirements: Minimum of five years' experience operating high-pressure hog fuel boilers, steam turbine generators and parallel generator to the utility.
