PUBLIC SAFETY DISPATCHERS
Entry Level - $22.60 - $24.34 hourly
Lateral Level -$24.94 – $30.33 hourly
Sacramento Regional Fire/EMS Communications Center is accepting applications for fire/EMS dispatchers – both entry and lateral level. Two entry level test dates have been scheduled for the remainder of 2018:
November 15, 2018 – application & typing certificate due by November 8, 2018
December 13, 2018 – application & typing certificate due by December 6, 2018
Under the general direction of the Shift Supervisor, the dispatcher receives, analyzes and acts to respond with assistance to emergency situations, via telephone, radio and alarm systems; instructs citizens, via telephone, on life saving procedures that can be performed prior to arrival of trained medical personnel; utilizes a computer-aided dispatch system to initiate a response of necessary fire apparatus and personnel, ambulance and other emergency assistance to effectively handle emergency situations.
Minimum Requirements for Qualified Candidates: High School Diploma or GED; Valid California Class C Driver’s License; Ability to type a minimum of 40 words per minute; Ability to work 12-hour shifts, three days on, three days off; workdays and hours may vary and will include working evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, some overtime, as well as rotating shifts.
Hiring Process May Include, but is Not Limited to: Written test, oral interview, extensive background investigation, psychological examination, drug screening, and physical examination.
