$20,000 for the first probationary year and $100,000 thereafter.

Under general supervision, develops, prepares and presents Metro Fire’s community outreach and engagement services externally to the public and internally to District personnel; develops and presents fire and life safety programs, educational services, informational materials, and District publications; creates media campaigns utilizing a variety of multimedia techniques (e.g. graphics, video) to engage, inform and educate the public; may be assigned to lead a team of assigned personnel during various events; work will be assigned in terms of general objectives and results obtained; subject to being called back when off duty and may work on weekends or be assigned irregular work hours during the day or the evening; performs other duties as required. This classification reports directly to the Public Information Officer (PIO) and may receive general direction from the Community Relations Coordinator (CRC).

Regular and reliable attendance is a requirement of the job.
1. Develops, and presents services and programs involving fire and life safety, community outreach, and engagement to the community and District personnel.
2. Assists the PIO and CRC in the development of material for social media, broadcast media, print media, and other methods of information distribution designed to educate District personnel and the public regarding operations, accomplishments, events, and activities of the District.
3. Prepares general correspondence, summary reports, press releases, public service announcements, informational flyers, and community newsletters. Prepares for and analyzes media coverage.
4. Maintains records of requests for engagement from the public, activities and events that Metro Fire participates in, materials issued, and supplies needed.
5. Analyzes data and assists in determining community risks and target populations for community education programs.
6. Develops and facilitates strategic formal and informal internal member engagement including promotions, awards and recognition, station dedications/openings/ground breaking, Fire Camp, yearbooks, funerals, and other programs, events and initiatives.
7. Prepares and/or updates marketing materials.
8. Recommends budget requirements for continuing and/or new Community Relations programs.
9. Organizes and facilitates, or participates in, events or assignments, performing essential tasks for program continuity.
10.Operates in a team environment with a positive attitude, and the ability to offer and receive constructive feedback.
11. Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
- Minimum qualifications & Requirements

Offers of employment are contingent upon successful completion of a background check and a physical to include a drug screen.
The education or experience requirements may be modified or waived at the sole discretion of the Fire Chief. At least one of the education or experience requirements must be met; both requirements cannot be modified or waived. The Sacramento Metro Fire District Board of Directors shall be notified of any such modifications or waivers.
Age
Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age.
Education and Experience
Education must be obtained through a post secondary institution currently accredited by any accreditation body recognized by either the Counsel for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) or the United States Department of Education.
Required:
1. An Associate of Arts degree in Training, Journalism, Digital Marketing, Communication or education programs that meet the knowledge and abilities listed below.
2. Minimum of 6 (six) months experience in Public Education, Journalism, Community Relations, or a related field that meets the knowledge and abilities requirements listed below.
Desirable:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Teaching, Training, Journalism, Digital Marketing, Communications or related education that meet the knowledge and ability requirements listed below.
2. Proficient use of social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc., and the ability to maximize engagement including timing of posts, trends, relevant content, hashtags, etc.
3. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking for on-camera interviews and large audience presentations.
