Air Quality Engineer - Assistant / Associate
The Transportation and Climate Change (TCC) Division implements policy and programs throughout the Sacramento region to reduce vehicle emissions and congestion, while promoting advanced technology and active transportation, influencing sustainable land use decisions, and deploying micro-mobility solutions.
The Air Quality Engineer in the Mobile Sources section should have knowledge of innovative vehicle and fuels technologies, while performing a variety of duties related to the evaluation and control of mobile source emissions, and implementation of lower emission strategies associated with the Low Emission Vehicle Incentive Program (LEVIP) and the Sacramento Emergency Clean Air and Transportation (SECAT) Program. The candidate should be familiar with alternative fuel vehicle technology and infrastructure, CEQA compliance and reporting requirements, fleet emission and composition analysis, and On/Off road regulations and operations. Candidates should have strong project management, technical grant writing and project budget management skills. The Air Quality Engineer is responsible for outlining the requirements for contracts, agreements and Memoranda of Understanding; for analysis of potential grant opportunities and budget analyses; and be able to create presentations explaining these analyses and program implementation strategies. Additional responsibilities include collaboration work/meetings with partner agencies, the CA Air Resources Board, Sacramento Clean Cities Coalition, community organizations, school districts, and other constituents.
Candidates must meet the minimum qualifications for the Air Quality Engineer position as outlined in the "SAC Metro Air District Classification" for Air Quality Engineer.
