ODU Human Resources Housekeeping Lead Worker (#00711A/00956A) Webb Center Operations at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for Housekeeping &/or Apparel Worker I. This position will maintain a high level of cleanliness and order in the university center by performing a variety of cleaning tasks and meeting room set-ups. Required qualifications include basic experience operating standard housekeeping equipment and usage of germicides, disinfectants and caustic solutions; some experience in floor tech, working in a large office, school, or institutional setting; ability to train and supervise staff in proper cleaning and equipment usage. The chief objective of this position is to audit, scan and index all payroll documents, as well as provide oversight and direction to the student scanning assistants. This position will serve as the first point of contact responding to customer service requests for the Payroll Department; pre-audit manual timesheets prior to information being keyed in Banner by the Payroll Processors; verify employee information and pay calculations and promptly rectify discrepancies with the responsible party; distribute payroll checks as appropriate; and correct address errors identified and maintain information related to unclaimed checks. Other duties include coordinating with the mailroom to ensure the timely receipt and delivery of checks, sorting and distributing incoming mail, and preparing outgoing mail as directed.
Required Qualifications: Working knowledge of bookkeeping or accounting practices. Working knowledge of payroll processing and practices. Working knowledge of basic accounting principles. Working knowledge of effective customer service and problem-resolution techniques when working with diverse customers. Demonstrated ability to enter and manipulate data and produce reports. Demonstrated ability to produce documents using PC-based software such as Microsoft Office Suite. Demonstrated ability to perform complex mathematical computations. Excellent oral and written communication techniques. Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize work and to complete all tasks required with minimum supervision. Considerable customer service experience. Some accounting experience and/or training. Some payroll experience and/or training.
Preferred Qualifications: High school graduate or equivalent. Some Banner experience and/or training.
