As our Housing Development Director, you'll play a key role in overseeing all aspects of affordable housing development, from acquisition to renovation. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, you'll lead efforts to secure funding, establish partnerships, and navigate legal complexities to ensure the success of our housing initiatives.

Examples of Duties:

  • Team Oversight: You’ll oversee our Housing Assistant Director, ensuring the smooth day-to-day operations of our existing housing complexes.
  • Program Development: Develop, manage, and evaluate housing development, acquisition, and rehabilitation programs to meet the needs of our communities.
  • Leadership in Planning: Provide leadership to strategic planning efforts related to real estate and asset management goals, guiding our organization towards success.
  • Community Engagement: Conduct community input processes to gather valuable insights for project planning, addressing neighborhood needs, and gaining project approval.
  • Financial Management: Prepare and administer program budgets, oversee financing, and manage real estate transactions to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Partnership Collaboration: Collaborate with financial institutions, investors, and government agencies to secure financing opportunities for our housing projects.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Communicate the impact of our housing programs to donors and stakeholders through various channels, including presentations and reports.
  • Legal Compliance: Navigate legal requirements and regulations related to property acquisition, development, and management, ensuring compliance at all times.
  • Project Leadership: Lead the planning and development of future housing projects, from site selection to design coordination, ensuring feasibility and success.
  • Relationship Management: Act as the agency’s liaison with various stakeholders, including architects, contractors, lenders, and public officials, fostering effective working relationships.
  • Community Coordination: Coordinate with community stakeholders, government agencies, and neighborhood associations to gather input and address concerns regarding our housing initiatives.
  • Program Administration: Administer housing rehabilitation loan programs, contracts, and HUD ‘Capital Fund’ programs, ensuring efficient execution and compliance.
  • Procurement Management: Prepare procurement documents and oversee the filing of applications for state or federal funding allocations.
  • Strategic Advisory Role: Serve as a member of the agency’s senior management team, contributing to strategic planning and acting in an advisory capacity for agency-wide issues.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Prepare a variety of policies, procedures, contracts, reports, and other written materials, ensuring compliance with funding and regulatory requirements.

Schedule: Schedule may vary week to week to meet the needs of the program. There will be times when it will be necessary to work early mornings, evenings and some weekends to advance the Housing development initiatives. 

Salary: $115,000 - $177,000, DOE

Minimum Employment Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in business, real estate, urban planning, or related field (advanced degree preferred). Minimum of 7 years of experience in property management, real estate development, or affordable housing. Advanced degree such as registered architect, licensed general contractor, or licensed real estate professional desired. Strong leadership skills and ability to work effectively with stakeholders. Knowledge of housing laws, regulations, and zoning ordinances.
