Post Press Operations Manager
The Sacramento Bee has an immediate opening for a Post Press Operations Manager in its Production Division, In this role, The Post Press Operations Manager directs and coordinates activities of Post Press, Receiving, Fleet as well as Transportation departments. This includes obtaining optimum use of equipment, facilities, and personnel by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Directs Post Press, Receiving, Fleet and Transportation teams to achieve production and expense goals.
Stays up to date with DOT regulations for the State of California as it pertains to drivers as well as fleet.
Prepares revenue and expense budgets; tracks performance; and analyzes expenditure, financial, and operations reports to determine budget impact.
Prepares 5-year capital expense budget; recommends capital expenditures for acquisition of new equipment to increase efficiency and services of the Post Press department.
Approves requisitions for equipment, materials, and supplies within limits of department budget.
Enforces compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and governmental regulations.
Negotiates contracts with and coordinates activities of hardware, software, telecommunications, support, and training vendors.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages five subordinate supervisors who directly supervise a total of 180 employees in the Packaging department. Manages one transportation supervisors who directly supervisors over 30 drivers and dispatchers. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, and SKILLS
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or 5 to 10 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Some experience in all areas of packaging, production, equipment maintenance, and management is required. Computer skills as well as hardware and software packaging systems knowledge are necessary for this position.
