Who are we looking for?
We are looking for people with at least 1 years’ experience providing personal supports to clients with developmental disabilities. Our employees assist our customers in working all around the Portland metro area 1:1, including Gresham, Milwaukie, Troutdale, and Beaverton/Hilsboro areas.
Our employees must be responsible for their clients in a 1:1 setting, so this is not an entry level job, all new hires must have previous professional experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
If you are interested in this work but do not have experience yet, we suggest getting a job for 1 year in one of Portland's many group homes, where it is easy to get hired and you can collect the experience necessary to join us.
If you already have professional experience working with clients with developmental disabilities, then read on!
Who are we?
Our company is MacNamera Services LLC, a leading for profit provider agency in the Northwest. Begun in 2015, our company is privately owned by David MacNamera.
What do our employees do?
Our employees assist our valuable clients in pursuing contract goals in the community. Clients have goals ranging from learning to cook, handling money, visiting OMSI, pools, parks or shows. Clients may also have interests in volunteering in certain areas, such as Free Geek or the Humane Society. Our clients range from being nonverbal and nonmobile, to being fully mobile and taking classes at PCC. Our employees assist clients in whatever the client's interest is, by establishing a weekly schedule that the clients and employees follow together.
A reliable automobile and current driving insurance, with a clean driving record, is a requirement for any offer of employment with us. All applicants must also pass a criminal background check.
How does compensation work?
Our employees work on a variable, contract basis, starting with whatever hours are available and building up to a maximum of 40 hours per week. Our new hires need to be sure that they are experienced and comfortable in keeping clients happy and interested in their services, because clients have the right to cancel contracts if they want to. On the other hand, many of our clients have worked with us for years, so anyone who is well-qualified for this work should not hesitate to apply.
Our employees enjoy an industry leading wage of $15.75 per hour, as well as a range of benefits not often found in provider agencies, including:
1.) 12 hours of paid training each year, learn more skills and get paid at the same time!
2.) Paid Personal Time off (PTO) accrued at the rate of 1 PTO hour for every 40 hours worked.
3.) Company compensation for mileage spent with clients up to 120 miles each month at $.485 per mile.
4.) Company compensation for parking spent with clients up to 20 hours per month.
5.) Company compensation for Tri-Met passes and tickets purchased when working with clients up to $25 per month.
6.) 10 unpaid Federal holidays each year
7.) Weekends off, with the option of working on Saturday or Sunday if the employee wishes to.
8.) Four hours paid time per month to prepare billing documents, currently equaling $62 per month per employee.
9.) 10 unpaid personal days off per year.
10.) Full control over whether the employee will choose to work with new clients who we have not yet signed a support contract with.
11.) A great degree of control over the times and days which employees will work with their various clients, as long as the employee and client agree to the time and day, then the employee can arrange their schedule anyway they want to.
How does the hiring process work?
Please submit your resume.
If your experience is a suitable match for the position a phone interview will be scheduled. After completing the phone interview candidates may be invited to an in person interview with a company manager. Upon successful completion of the second interview we will contact references and respond within one week.
All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.
Please note the Oregon Background Check department is currently experiencing a large backlog of work. If you are working under a current valid background check or if you are listed in the long term care registry then you could begin work immediately once hired. However, if you have no current background check under effect then the Background Check Unit might take up to 4 or even 8 weeks to approve your ability to start work with our clients. We can still work around the longer time if you need to give notice or re-locate, however be advised that new background checks are running very slowly. They have hired more staff to improve the Background Check Unit, however they are not yet caught up with the backlog of cases.
