Job Purpose Statement: The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) will provide specialized physical health care services for special education students, assist with medically complex student health needs, and provide school level nursing support as required. The LVN is responsible for planning, assessing and administering student health care safely within the LVN Practice Act under the direction of a credentialed school nurse and under physicians’ orders.
Distinguishing Characteristics: This job classification assists the assigned school nurse and other certificated staff to meet the specialized physical health care needs of designated students. Employees in this classification receive direct and indirect supervision from a school nurse regarding health-related training.
