Position Overview:
Position Summary
The Recruiter works with traditional high school students, and non-traditional students to encourage them to enter post-secondary programs at Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell; contacts and corresponds with prospective students through personal contacts, phone calls, written communication, and social media; utilize Banner system to track recruited students and develop communication plans for recruiting purposes. This position reports to the Director of Enrollment Management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
The Recruiter position may provide supervision and leadership of others to complete assigned tasks, and may include work study students, temporary support, part-time staff, or other individuals temporarily assigned in one's area of responsibility.
Essential Functions
- Participates in recruiting programs geared toward traditional and non-traditional students;
- Travels to high schools within our service area; travels to designated target areas inside and outside of New Mexico;
- Maintains effective communications (written and/or verbal) with high school counselors, principals and prospective students, serving as an information liaison between the University and these representatives;
- Plans and coordinates recruiting visits by faculty and administrative personnel;
- Advises and encourages prospective high school students to complete eligibility requirements to enter post-secondary programs at Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell Campus;
- Participates in professional development activities as requested;
- Performs office duties such as typing, filing, sorting, verifying information, and coordinates the flow of student information into the Banner Recruitment Module;
- Maintains a comprehensive recruitment data system for response to student inquiries, distribution of recruiting literature and tracking prospective students through the prospect and admissions process;
- Participates in the development and implementation of Banner communication plans;
- Works directly with the Director of Enrollment Management and the Student Relations Specialist in planning and implementing the student recruitment activities of the university, including new student orientation activities;
- Facilitates planning, coordination and completion of special events directed towards recruiting, including events which will attract potential students and their parent to the campus and foster positive relationships in the community;
- Represents the University at all major career days, college nights and fairs scheduled by area high schools and other groups within the University's service area;
- Accompanies other Student Services representatives to high school events, when available; i.e. financial aid nights, High School Dual Credit events, etc.
- Coordinates marketing efforts related to recruitment activities with the Director of Enrollment Management, the New Student Relations Specialist and the Director of Institutional Development;
- Assists prospective students with the admission process, including financial aid, scholarship information and housing;
- Promotes the University through public speaking events at area high schools;
- Maintains and submits for approval accurate record keeping for all recruiting activities and efforts in evaluating on-going recruiting programs, including travel requests and travel voucher information for reimbursement;
- Provides support for on campus tours and arranges and/or conducts campus tours for visiting students and parents, as needed;
- Provides input related to recruitment and increased enrollment strategies for University Strategic Plan, and ongoing University enrollment management;
- Serves as a member of Professional Senate;
- Provides support for maintaining office hours, as needed;
- Performs other duties that are deemed necessary or assigned.

Required Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in direct or related field of study;
- At least two years of experience working with post-secondary, college-age, and non-traditional students from variety of social and economic backgrounds;
- Must possess a valid driver's license, if selected for the position, must complete the required defensive driving course.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
The employee must possess computer skills (Microsoft Access, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) and data entry skills, (knowledge of Banner system is a plus but not required). Ability to work with difficult students and maintain confidentiality is required. Must be multi-task oriented. The employee must also have the ability to organize and direct people to assist with recruitment events. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are required. Fluency in both English and Spanish languages is beneficial.

Paid Time Off
Leave accrual rates are determined by employee class (At-Will/Professional & Faculty - exempt or Support – non-exempt) and years of employment. See below for specific accruals for each employee class.
As per policies and procedures Adjuncts and Temporary employees are not eligible to accrue leave.
Faculty Paid Time Off
- Medical leave is accrued 48 hours in the Fall and 48 hours in the Spring.
- Personal Leave - Five personal work days each academic year and two work days during the summer. Only regular faculty will be eligible for personal leave. Personal leave will not accumulate from academic year to academic year.
Support Paid Time Off
- During the first year of service, full time non-exempt (hourly) employees accrue 7 hours of annual leave and 7 hours of medical leave per month.
- The second year of service, full time non-exempt employees accrue 10 hours of annual leave and 10 hours of medical leave per month.
- The third and subsequent years of service, full time non-exempt employees accrue 14.66 hours of annual leave and 14 hours of medical leave per month.
- Employees must work for the University for three months before they are eligible to use annual leave.
- Leave accruals will be pro-rated for part time employees.
Professional/ At-will Paid Time Off
- Full time exempt employees accrue 14.66 hours of annual leave and 14 hours of medical leave per month.
- Employees must work for the University for three months before they are eligible to use annual leave.

Employee Educational Assistance Plan
Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell offers a tuition waiver for permanent, full-time and part-time regular employees and retirees. Employees can take up to 9 credit hours on the Roswell campus. Their IRS dependents are not restricted in the number of credit hours they can take. For detailed information reference 40.9 Educational Assistance Program.
For classes offered by ENMU in Portales, the Portales campus will waive tuition for either the employee or spouse (but not both) up to 4 credit hours per semester. Dependents, as defined by the I.R.S., are not eligible for tuition waivers for classes taken through the Portales campus.
Additional course fees will still need to be paid by the employee.
