Sonoma County Regional Parks is recruiting for two Park Program Assistants (PPAs) positions in the Natural Resource Division, which will focus on monitoring and managing vegetation and/or wildlife. These positions will steward the diverse ecosystems of Sonoma County in the County Park system. PPAs will support the County's commitment to Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and preserving the biodiversity of Sonoma County Regional Parks lands by mapping and monitoring vegetation, wildlife, and the barriers to wildlife permeability.
The PPAs will assist with coordinating special events; support outreach, communication, and educational programming; and lead interns and seasonal field staff in maintaining the quality assurance and control of collected data. Additionally, PPA responsibilities will include maintaining a wildlife camera network, documenting special status species, supporting restoration projects, maintaining irrigation systems, controlling invasive species, removing derelict fencing, and other natural resource projects.
The ideal candidates for these positions will have experience mapping or monitoring plants or wildlife in a field-based setting; coordinating, implementing, and leading natural resource programs or projects; implementing standard protocols and methods for data collection; and utilizing wildlife cameras and GIS technology.
