The City of Stockton is seeking to fill one (1) Technology Training Coordinator. The Information Technology Department is seeking to fill one position to manage and support training on the City's critical business systems, including the new ERP solution. The incumbent's primary responsibility is to plan, manage and track computer-based training activities as they relate to business systems and technology for all City departments. This position plays a key role in organizing and marketing technology skill development opportunities for staff and officials, including but not limited to software applications, learning technologies, the new ERP solution, and related business systems. The incumbent will work a City of Stockton 9/80 schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Fridays, with every other Friday off.
Incumbents in this position are covered under Civil Service and are represented by the Stockton City Employees' Association. (Classified/Represented)
This recruitment is being conducted as an Open/Promotional recruitment. Current full-time City of Stockton employees, who have attained regular status at time of application, may apply for this position as a promotional opportunity, and successful candidates will be placed on a promotional list. The appointing authority will have the option of requesting names from the promotional list or a combination of both.

Prior to appointment, eligible candidates will be required to submit to and successfully pass a background investigation, which will include fingerprinting, and successfully pass a medical back evaluation.
Under general supervision, establishes and coordinates all aspects of computer software training and support to City employees who use personal computers; provides affordable methods of software training by scheduling either instructor-led classes, or arranging and scheduling time for self-study in conjunction with support materials such as on-line training, computer based training, videos, or manuals; provides software support and consultation to application-related department projects by analyzing problems and initiating solutions with the use of available software; performs related work as assigned.
Class Characteristics
This single-position class reports to an Technology Systems Supervisor and has responsibility for planning, initiating, coordinating and providing on-line, classroom based, and hands-on personal computer software training for City personal computer users. This class is distinguished from other City classes having training responsibilities in that the duties relate specifically to the activities and functions of personal computer software training.
Principal Duties (Illustrative Only)
- Communicates with department training coordinators and network administrators to analyze, research, and identify training needs and develop an annual training plan.
- Provides instructor-led classroom training in applications with unique configurations and coordinates consultants and instructors to provide classroom training in City standard applications.
- Manages, maintains, and coordinates the Information Technology (IT) Training Center activities, including upgrades for all software and hardware.
- Serves as support and training person for departmental personal computer upgrades or connections to the CityNET network; provides related documentation.
- Provides method for new employee orientation sessions to introduce new employees to the City's network system.
- Follows up on help-calls of users.
- Maintains, tracks, registers, and labels all training materials that are checked out or used in the Training Center.
- Creates and maintains monthly calendars of classes, self-study appointments, lab time, and meetings and distributes schedules to department training coordinators and IT staff.
- Coordinates monthly department meetings with training coordinators to discuss training needs, suggestions, recommendations, comments, and provides training.
- Maintains and updates training database of employees who have completed classroom or self-study training; generates reports for departments and prints certificates.
- Assists departments with application-specific projects, researches solutions, and makes suggestions to simplify job responsibilities and workflow.
- Develops and maintains annual Training Center budget; monitors spending throughout the year to enable the department to stay within budgetary limits; arranges bidding processes for instructor salaries, including contacting various consultants and software training companies.
- Provides technology articles for the City's intranet.
- Reviews and evaluates available training materials for the City's software, including manuals, references, quick guides, videos, computer-based training, and multimedia training.
