The City of Sacramento, Department of Public Works is seeking highly motivated, experienced individuals to fill 3 Supervising Engineer positions. The 3 positions will provide leadership and support in the following areas:

Transportation Division, Traffic Operations Center: The ideal candidate for this position will have outstanding leadership skills as well as extensive experience in transportation and traffic engineering. As the manager of the City of Sacramento's Traffic Operations Center (TOC), the ideal candidate will have experience managing and leading a diverse group of technical experts and coordinating with field staff responsible for operations and maintenance of the City's Traffic Signal grid. As such, strong written and verbal communication skills are required. In addition to TOC management, responsibilities include implementing the City's ITS master plan, managing multiple traffic signal operations/upgrade programs, and managing the day to day workload of TOC staff. The ideal candidate will be a big picture thinker capable of creating a culture of innovation in the TOC.

Engineering Services Division, Civil & Electrical Design Section: The ideal candidate for this position would possess extensive experience in transportation, and be skilled at managing and coaching project managers in the design, surveying and construction of all phases of a transportation project. Responsibilities include; supervising a work unit consisting of professional and technical classifications, preparing reports to the city's legislative body, planning and forecasting work unit activities, managing personnel issues, developing process enhancements, monitoring project progress and individual workloads, and coaching project managers in the technical aspects of project delivery processes such as scoping, design, right of way, environmental and construction.

Engineering Services Division, Development Engineering Section: The ideal candidate for this position would possess extensive experience in general civil and transportation engineering, land development, the Subdivision Map Act, improvement plan review, and be skilled at managing and coaching engineers and technical staff reviewing subdivision maps and plans for private development projects. Responsibilities include; supervising a work unit consisting of professional and technical classifications, preparing and presenting reports to the City's Planning Commission and City Council, planning and forecasting work unit activities, managing personnel issues, developing process enhancements, monitoring project progress and individual workloads, and coaching project managers in the technical aspects of their projects.
