Position requires a Bachelor’s degree in business or public administration or closely related field AND 2 years of progressively responsible analyst level experience in municipal government. Experience in budgeting, capital improvement plans, project management, public works operations, and federal and state transportation grant administration is highly desirable.

The current position being filled is assigned to the Public Works Department and responsible for preparation of operating and CIP budgets, monitoring of revenues and expenses, preparation of the 5-year Capital Improvement Plan, and administration of grants, specifically Caltrans/transportation related grants. The position provides responsible professional level comprehensive analysis, management, financial, or operational assistance in the development, administration and implementation of citywide programs or projects. Positions may be assigned to coordinate and oversee budget activities and provide assistance in a variety of subject and project areas for city departments.
This is the journey level classification in the management analyst series. Incumbents perform journey level professional support and exercise independent judgment in the performance of their duties. It is distinguished from the Management Analyst I as the latter perform the entry level professional support and initially receive close supervision in the performance of their duties. It is also distinguished from the Senior Management Analyst in that the latter perform higher-level, complex administrative/analytical work with a very high degree of independence and responsibility and may supervise other staff.
Knowledge of:
