CU seeks a consultant with solid experience dealing with FEMA and its PA program (the Program) -- including all facets of disaster recovery, grant management, compliance, appeal, accounting and administration -- to support CU’s applications, as a private nonprofit (PNP) organization, for reimbursement under the Program.
The 2020 CZU Lightning Complex fire destroyed about 95% of Camp Krem’s facilities, including 30 buildings totaling 30,000 square feet along with above- and below-ground infrastructure, utilities, materials, contents, supplies and vehicles.
CU has been determined eligible for FEMA Public Assistance funding for both emergency and restoration work, as well as FEMA Section 406 mitigation. It now faces the daunting task of rebuilding quickly and economically. Both FEMA and the Santa Cruz County Building Department support rebuilding what was lost, modified only by the need to conform to modern code and other 406 mitigation measures (the “Project”).
We have been working with the State of California Governor’s Office of Emergency Services (CalOES), and have identified 16 projects suitable for FEMA Public Assistance. These projects are in various stages: Twelve projects have been obligated, two are under appeal and two are still being negotiated and described.
