Scientist – BASF Corp seeks Scientist I (Watermelon Molecular Breeding) (West Sacramento, CA): Partner w/ integrated watermelon breeding progr through analyses & interpretation of genotypic data in defined research prjcts. Req Master's in Genetics, Plnt Breeding, Blgy, or rel’d flds & 5 yrs of exp in vegetable seeds ind. Req 5 yrs of exp in: genomics, bioinformatics, statistics, & plant breeding; statistical genetics (e.g., mixed linear models & population genetics); QTL anlys SW progs, such as JoinMap & MapQTL; lrge sequencing data anlys using prog’g language, such as R; ablty to generate & implmnt trait markers in plant breeding progs; molecular genetics techniques, such as DNA extraction, primer dsign, PCR, qPCR, electrophoresis, & genotyping platforms; ablty to initiate, execute, & complete resrch projs independently in fast pace envrnmnt. Must have evdnce of contribution to scientific knowledge in form of publications & patents, & the development of comm prods such as crop varieties. 10% of dom & int’l trvl.
